Software Design Engineer in Test

Job Summary:

The Software Design Engineer in Test is experienced in all aspects of testing (white box, black box, automation strategies, tools, etc) and will enthusiastically attack the most challenging problems. Test web services, database applications and applications that automate the management and monitoring of corporate email environments.

Responsibilities:

• Interact with Product Management to review and refine user stories and software requirements
• Create code-based automated test suite for product validation
• Work within established architectural framework, harness and API provided by development to translate functional and technical requirements into automated test suite
• Produce test data sets in support of manual and automated testing
• Drive testing including test planning, unit, component and API testing
• Create and organize test designs, test cases, and matrixes for full area coverage and product delivery
• Manage complex test set up configurations from images
• Clearly and accurately document bugs and steps/conditions to reproduce
• Work with development and Network Operations to support the software through its entire lifecycle
• Provide technical assistance and direction to more junior members of the team 

Required Qualifications:

• Expertise in automated test strategies and developing automated tests for applications built against a data base back end (SQL Server and/or Oracle)
• Expertise with test management, bug tracking and test automation tools as well as Visual Studio
• Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, MS Exchange and windows clustering
• Expertise setting up and managing Windows servers in networked environments including OS imaging and deployment
• Expertise coding software designs using C#
• Experience debugging problems, profiling code, etc.
• 5 or more years of commercial automated software test development experience
• BS computer science or engineering, or equivalent

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with the .NET Architecture including ADO.NET
• Experience with WMI and ADSI coding in C#
• MSI use, creation and debugging
• Experience building an internal test portal for the purposes of reporting test metrics
• Experience with Agile software development practices; experience developing test cases from user stories
