Senior Network Operations Engineer

Job type: Full Time

Job Detail/Instructions:

The Exchange Engineer will be responsible for business requirements and design of Exchange 2003 architectures to include site topology, front-end and back-end server configuration, Microsoft server clustering, mobility services, along with conferencing and collaboration services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Expert guidance related to troubleshooting, maintenance, operations and support of Exchange environments.
  • Provide resolution for escalated issues from the Network Operations Center.
  • Knowledge of Exchange capacity and performance planning.
  • Skilled in DNS re-architecture, Email Archiving and Email Disaster Recovery.
  • Solid working understanding of Microsoft network services such as DNS, WINS and DHCP.
  • Ability to conduct Microsoft Clustering and file services.
  • Ability to design, deployment and migration in large and complex production environments.
  • Administration of MS Exchange 2003 mailbox, calendar, public folder and conferencing services.
  • Architecture and integration of messaging solutions.
  • Ability to conduct Windows Patch Management.
  • Responsible for global directory synchronization.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Responsible for supervising Network Operations Engineers and Technicians. 

 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: 

7-10 years experience in related field, 5 years experience as an Exchange Engineer.  Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE 2000/2003). Majority of experience should be in supporting mid to large scale Microsoft Exchange messaging/Active Directory environments compromised of 2000 seats or more.  Project Management experience and knowledge of ITIL or MOF practices a plus.

 

Other Skills & Abilities: 

Extensive background in Windows 2000/2003, Active Directory and Exchange 2000/2003.

 

Language Skills: 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

 

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Works in well lighted/ventilated office area, with some changes of temperature, as well as throughout the premises.  Associate will spend majority of the time indoors.
  • Prolonged sitting at a computer with some standing and bending intermittently during work hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to move arms, hands and fingers to type.
  • Close vision required for computer monitors.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
